No more weepy valve cover

1972 Volvo 164

Fresh new valve cover gasket and valve adjustment.

PE-66 in late fifties Loewe opta Hi-Fi Tube amp stereo.

Clean as can be. Fires up but got a bunch of tubes to replace.

PE-66 motor.

All lubed up, bench tested and ready to install.

Faulty switch contact. PE-66

The contacts on the cut off switch were faulty. Rigged it up. Spins nice, smooth, and quiet and idler drives platter correctly at all 4 speeds.

Vintage PE-66 motor

Motor, idler-wheel, and cut-off switch out for testing.

Perpetuum Ebner PE-66 Turntable

This PE-66 belongs to a West-German made Loewe Opta Hi-Fi tube stereo I scored on craigslist a few weeks back. Does not spin.

BSR UA25 Motor

The motor stopped spinning completely. I by-passed the cut-off switch by connecting power right to the motor leads and it spins nice and smoothly. Lubed up motor and operated. Runs nice. Needs a new cut-off switch. Waiting on a new idler arm for it as well.

Vintage BSR UA25 Turntable

This thing finally stopped turning. I decided to do a custom Dual 1009 swap conversion on this Delmonico solid state player. Still wanted to find out what was up with the BSR TT in the meantime.

Yamaha CS engine

Pulled the jugs to get the intake pieces welded up to them. Top end looks good.

Honda CVCC stereo swap.

The belt on the tape deck broke. Replacing with a freshly rebuilt toshiba tape player. What a nightmare of a dash.

french threaded bottom brackets

Velo orange makes a new sealed bearing cartridge style bottom bracket for standard french threaded bikes. These will not work on swiss-threaded bikes. You can run a velo orange threadless bottom bracket if you choose not to use the threads or you can drop some cash and buy a phil wood bottom bracket as I hear they make swiss-threaded brackets.

French vs. Swiss bottom brackets

If you have an old Motobecane and are thinking about changing out the bottom bracket. Be sure to find out if you have a swiss threaded DC cup or standard french. Some Motobecane frames have a swiss threaded (counter-clockwise to tighten) DC cup. The threading is still 35x1.

Nissan winch

Custom-built steel chock and winch bracket. Burly.

Hill-climber.

Mr torque!. haha

2t Pipe.

Super Kustom 2t Pipe.

Volvo V40 plugs

New spark plugs and service. Leaky Valve cover:( weh weh.

Super Coked-up Jug.

Small-end bearing went on this top-end. Cylinder and piston are fine. De-coking the ports and making sure all the transfers and clean and burr-free. New rings and a fresh hone.

Weepy Fly-side crank seal. No good.

Volvo horn polishes up nice.

Just gotta finish the topcoat on the steering wheel and then it can be installed. It's turning out great.

floorboards painted up fresh

'57 Volvo 444 gauge cluster

All cleaned up. Glued the floating needle back on to the speedo. Added 12v battery gauge and new temp gauge that fit in original location and can hardly even tell.

Volvo dash makeover.

Un-masked and ready for re-assembly.

'57 Volvo interior painting.

Interior painting is pretty much a wrap. Still have doors and trim bits to do.

1957 Volvo 444 floorpan.

New floor pan. The rear section of the floor still remains original. The whole front section is custom. Each piece was cut to fit and fully welded around. Super strong and still lightweight.

Volvo 444 interior deconstruction.

77 Honda CVCC. New Carby

Just installed a new old stock Holley Carburetor on the Civic.

Elite 250 Variator inspection.

Pulled this out to inspect the rollers. There was some flat spotting but not too bad. Lightly sanded out flat spots and re-greased. Will replace at a later date.

Honda Elite 250 Valve clearances.

Carb has been re-installed and now time to set the valve clearances. You don't even have to pull the valve cover off to adjust these. Pretty smart. Not even a feeler gauge involved. New spark plug installed as well.

1990 Honda Elite 250 Carb clean.

All cleaned up and ready for mounting. The inside actually wasn't that bad. Set air mixture screw at 2 1/8 turns to start as per Honda manual.

1990 Honda Elite 250 full service tune-up.

Super dirty Carburetor on the table for cleaning.

Ratz nest o wirez. 57' Volvo 444 dash wiring.

Once painted, I got some electrical to sort out.

Honda Super Moto brake pads

New pads shown next to the old. Juuust starting to hit metal on metal. The disc is still fine.

Honda 650 Super Moto brake pad replacement.

Rear caliper with the old pads dropped out.

77 Civic PCV cleaning and hose replacement.

Once the vacuum lines were done decided to go ahead and replace the cracked PCV breather line and clean the valve out.

CVCC Vacuum lines.

Getting ready to re-plumb the entire vacuum system. All these old hoses are getting cracked and too short from being trimmed back over the years for a fresh seal.

Vespa LX 50 SAS mod.

Here you can see the modified 'plug' mounted up to the cylinder head. I removed the whole SAS filter assembly from the fan-side of the engine cover. Less weight and less hassle. When this gets dirty it can cause idling issues. Just an unnecessary emissions thing.

Vespa LX 50 SAS filter and pipe mod.

Bypassed the SAS filter by cutting down the pipe coming off the head to the filter and pinching, then welding it shut to create a plug.

Vespa LX50 exhaust repair.

All welded up and ready to mount.

Vespa LX50 4T broken exhaust pipe.

Broken exhaust pipe right where the header pipe meets the canister. Here it is mocked up to a case for proper placement and prepped for welding.

77 Civic voltage regulator and alternator test.

Perfect. Both units are functioning properly now.

77 Civic Alternator all buttoned up.

Beck and Arnley alternator all mounted up and ready go. New and longer belt installed and it works great.

Belt is too short.

Now that it's all mounted up you can see that the old belt is approximately 2 inches too short.

'77 Honda CVCC alternator install.

Here you can see the spacer installed and the void has been filled. Now it can be tightened to the proper spec. without causing any damage. The spacer needed to be placed at the rear in order to keep the pulleys in-line.

Alt. bracket spacer.

Cut down an M8 dowel pin that was laying around to use as the spacer.

CVCC alterntator.

Measuring for the spacer.

'77 Honda Civic custom alternator install.

Original Denso alternator on the civic finally gave up. It is getting replaced with a slightly larger, more powerful Beck and Arnley unit. The bottom alternator bracket is too short for this alternator so a custom spacer will need to be cut to fill the void. Here you can see the void in the bracket and the new alternator body.
